Atmospheric
features work by painters Noémie Kirscher and Odette Steinert.

Both artists capture a certain dreamlike atmosphere through their distorted painting methods. One fragmenting memory and place, the other translating the internal to external. Working at large scales, the viewer will be transported into their unique yet complimentary worlds.

Odette Steinert, (cr).jpg

Noémie Kirscher (b. 2001) lives and works in Stockholm, Sweden. Her work is rooted in her experience of growing up on Saint Barthélemy, a small island in the French Caribbean. The paintings emerge from fragments of childhood memories and colors drawn from oxidised patterns and surfaces encountered in daily life. These landscapes are neither fully real nor fully imagined.

Odette Steinert (b. 1998) is a Brooklyn based artist. She uses painting as a way to externally think about herself, about the body, and all of the “discomfort, beauty, heaviness and lightness it contains.” Drawing inspiration from Italian Medieval figure painting and photographers Francesca Woodman and Juliet Margaret Cameron, Steinert creates large scale, dreamlike figure paintings.

Curation:

Sarah Matthews (b.1998) is a Brooklyn based artist and curator. In her art practice, she has considered how the meaning and value of material objects change depending on their context, particularly in regards to items we collect and those we discard. In recent work, she has explored these concepts by way of collage. She was awarded an artist residency at Studio Kura in 2025 and curated Hindsight at 11.25 project space.
